In the early 2003 Don Curchod Owner / Designer of Equiplite, designed a custom Reef block. Special for the
lightest super yachts sails build ever. Now, 5 years after the introduction, we have the second generation
moulded Reef blocks.

Super Yacht veteran Thomas Jungblut has many year ``top big boat racing`` knowledge. He managed a lot of different Super yachts projects, like Wally, Baltic, Swan…. etc.
Lp: After the Super Yachts get bigger and the sails lighter, we have the knowledge that the weight of the Reef blocks damaged the sails and decrees the life span incredible.
Thom: “The advantage to work with the Equiplite is her weight which is 80% lighter. Lower windage and no friction / momentum in the back of the sail”.
Lp: What extra performance brings the Equiplite Reef blocks in the main sails?
Thom: “The Possibility to take the reef line inclusive blocks very quickly from the sail if you don’t need it in normal wind condition.”
Lp: How much does the sail increase in life span with the Equiplite reef blocks?
Thom: “Lifetime gets longer for the sail with this light blocks, on a bigger boat anstatt of 1000 gr. Alu block or 220gr. Equiplite block at the leach makes a very big difference in lifetime”.
With the Designing team of Denmark presented by; Jan Andersen | Casper Nielsen and with feedback from Jens Christensen (NS Denmark), Scott Zebny (NS Superyacht service) and Lourens Poorter (Equiplite Europe) a system to attach a Reef Block on North Sails Main Sail was invented.
